Requirements for Admission to the Music Therapy Board Certification Examination
Candidates for Music Therapy Board Certification must have successfully completed the academic and clinical training requirements for music therapy, or their equivalent as established by the American Music Therapy Association. To be eligible to sit for the music therapy board certification examination, these requirements must be completed by the examination administration date.
If the candidate is a current MT-BC taking the music therapy board certification examination to fulfill recertification requirements, the MT-BC must be in the fourth year of his/her recertification cycle and have paid all maintenance fees through the fourth year, including any applicable late fees.
